We have an large depression in a field we know as “Brick Kiln Field”. Our soil is very sandy but this field is clay. The depression fills with water over the winter and slowly dries out over the summer. The young lapwings love hiding and feeding in the mud as it dries.
Other families on the pond include a pair of Shelducks and a small flock of wonderful Teal…oh I nearly forgot the oystercatchers.
